Gaffa is right, start helping at 7s, or even fun-4s (they are like sponges at that age band - they soak up everything you teach them), when you have got the hang of developing the young 'uns move on upwards at your own pace and ability.
If you read the posts about the 9 and 10-year-olds you will see that despite the game still being all about development at that age - it isn't. Many adults, coaches and parents alike, soon get into the competitive mode and development, and self-discipline, goes out the window. If you move up slowly you will know what to expect and be able to deal with it. Straight into 11-a-side at your age is not a good idea in my opinion, too many egos strutting their stuff both on the pitch and at the side of it! :(
Good luck with your entry into coaching :)

When ma wee brother player 12s 7aside his manager was a bit like that-shouting and swearing
the team he was at before ma da had to pull him out cos the manager just shouted and swore but was really really bad, ma bro was abowt 10 then. iv no missed any of ma dads or ma brothers games for abowt 10 years and av seen a lot of nutters on the other side of the pitch. ma dad hates is but always tells me and the mums and dads to no get involved-a really want to get into football, ma dad said i can come in and help him and his 2 coaches for a season but i am going to take yours and ma dads advise and start at under 9s or something-but no till am ready-when ma dad did adults fitba a lot of his players would stop playing nd start an adult team up-ma dad always said to thum no to and i dont think any ofthem lasted long with the teams thy starter.so a think i agree starting with the lowest age group a will learn more.

deano

start with the level 1 children
then do level 2 children,

next up is level 1 youth then 2 & 3
(3 covers level 3 children to.)

all this would only take a few sessions 4/6 hours a time

good luck
